The production phases

Oscalito has maintained its vertical production structure unchanged over time:  the company purchases the yarn directly, which is then manufactured and transformed into the finished product. An Oscalito garment is the epitome of quality, creativity and professionalism, and exclusively and entirely Made in Italy.

The decision to use only natural fibres, produced and finished through environmentally friendly processes, has always been the cornerstone of the company and the great Oscalito family.

The Oscalito factory is equipped with historic circular knitting machines, which operate at lower speeds to encourage quality, enhance the yarn’s characteristics while lending the knitted fabric the perfect balance of softness and elasticity.

Finishing with moderate decatising and drying stabilises the item, and completes the first phase.

Prototypes and styling

Research and design for our styles are carried out by the in-house design unit with input from an outside designer.

Basic measurements, prototypes, combination of fabrics and making-up processes are carried out by Oscalito’s team of maestros and pattern cutters.

Two different procedures are used for cutting the garment pieces, depending on the fabric type.  An automatic computer-operated cutting machine is used for Jersey and plain knit.  For ribbed tubular fabric, the Oscalito flagship item, special care is needed in handling, to allow for the ribs’ natural elasticity.  The fabric is guided manually under a band knife cutting machine, a task that requires skill, accuracy and high precision.  Lace fabrics are also hand-cut following all the pattern repeats and embroidery threads.

The sewing room is equipped with a conveyor belt.  A computer programme sorts the items to be sewn, according to the individual processes, and sends them to the work stations depending on specific parameters such as type of machine, sewing methods, operator-skill or colour.
An overhead storage system parks the crates awaiting the next process.

Quality control

As each item leaves the sewing department, it passes through quality control:  it is measured and the seams and uniformity of the fabric are checked. If it passes the quality check, it proceeds to ironing, labelling and packaging and is then sent to the finished-goods warehouse, where orders are individually prepared, checked and packaged along with promotional material for the current season.  Shipments are made daily, and entrusted to a reputable express courier.
