Nature, technology and wellbeing.  Whether known for millennia or high-technology, we use only natural fibres, processed in an environmentally responsible manner.  The fibres found in Oscalito fabrics are the same as those in our very first garments:  precious natural fibres or refined blends.  This is a deliberate choice:  creating the quality, style and subtle elegance that makes an Oscalito garment instantly recognisable.

With only one aim in mind: the customer’s wellbeing.

Why only natural fibres?

Human beings are the most susceptible of all creatures to variations in climate; clothing, our “second skin”, must be as comfortable and versatile as possible, while snuring thermal insulation and humidity control.  Under normal conditions, the body exudes a half-litre of water-vapour daily in the form of perspiration, nature’s way of regulating body temperature.

Clearly, then, clothing should encourage, rather than hinder, this function.  Our wellbeing and comfort is determined by the narrow space between skin and undergarment.  This microclimate’s temperature and humidity is kept in perfect balance only by living natural fibres.  These react with the external environment just as they do in nature, absorbing or releasing heat and water-vapour molecules.  With synthetic fibres, which are non-absorbent, moisture remains on the skin.  Only in a draught will it evaporate, giving the body an unpleasant chill.

Wool and Silk

70% Merino wool, 30% silk
This blend of two noble fibres – extra-fine Australian merino wool and purest silk – enhances the sheen, durability and softness of the garment.
For garments that while warm and cozy in winter, remain elegant and refined.

Pure Merino wool
Australian Super 100’S Merino Wool, extra-fine with an 18.5 micron fibre diameter, making it exceptionally fine and soft.  Ideal for delicate and sensitive skins.

Pure silk
The precious natural yarn, the basis of the Oscalito silk organzine, is produced from the Bombyx mori silkworm that secretes a continuous filament which is 2,000 metres long.  Oscalito silk is spun, reeled (a process that involves coupling multiple filaments), twisted then folded together several times and dyed in the silk factories at Como in Italy, creating garments of exceptional purity and durability.

Cashmere / silk
An exceptional blend of precious fibres for maximum comfort and elegance.

Modal is a fibre of natural origin, obtained from beech-wood cellulose, with 6% Elastane.

Gently caressing your skin, Oscalito’s Modal retains its delightful softness over time.
